2020, the year of pandemic taught us so many things, which may not we learn otherwise.

Everyone is saying 2020 is such a bad year. It should be deleted from our calendar and other rubbish things. But if we retrospect then only we knew how much this year teaches us.

I believe in this quote very much: “Adversity, it can break you or make you if you let it, the choice is yours.” Every challenging situation allows us to expand our horizons. 2020 is the year to learn something new, to grow, to believe, to smile more, to be more caring, more sensitive and to change our perspectives.

1. Mother Earth is the source of life

Our mother earth gives us living beings everything. Food, air, water are necessities which we get from our nature and that cannot be produced. We cannot survive even for a single minute without the support of our mother nature. We should respect and care for Mother Earth as it is irreplaceable.

2. Our Thoughts Makes Us

Our thoughts are very important. Our thoughts make us what we are today. We need to learn to control what we think and what goes into our minds. It's human nature, we want to control other’s life, other person thoughts, and try to change other’s perspectives. But, we don't give much attention to our own thoughts, our own minds. It's important, if we take control of our own thoughts and our own mind, we can give a new direction to our life.

3. Age is just a Number

I truly believe that age is just a number for so long. And now in 2020, it has been proved right. If our willpower is strong, the mind is clean of negative thoughts, we can learn anything, achieve anything at any age. Education, learning new skills, health has nothing to with age. These can be learned at any age, anytime, and from anywhere(Zoom calls in the pandemic).

4. Need Simple Things for good Living

We all need simple and basic things to live happily and healthy. Good home-cooked food, air, water, clothes, and a clean and healthy environment to live in. We can easily live happily without brands, addictive stuff, and show-off parties. Invest in what we need rather than on what we want(because someone else has it).

5. Learning basic skills are necessary

Basic life skills like cooking, cleaning, organizing time, mind, and our home are important skills that every human being must know. There is no substitute for it. No class, gender, age matters. Outside India, we appreciate every member of the family contribute to household tasks as there is no house-help there. Then, why not we cultivate this good habit also. Everyone needs to be independent.

6. Family-time is a must

We should spend quality time with family. At least have one meal with family. This is a natural stressbuster. Earlier there were not so many depression cases, as we use to discuss our day with siblings, parents, and grandparents. But these days we are living in the virtual world, with no or very little human interaction. Play and masti time with kids is equally important. Kids are also our teacher and we can learn to be in the present moment always from kids.

7. Learn New Things

Keep learning new skills, new hobby is the way to live life completely and passionately. Always do an activity or learn new skills which you really like and always want to learn. This gives us the fulfillment and energy to take over any challenging task.

8. Help Others

God has given us so much then why don't we help others. Helping doesn’t only mean financial help but giving the right direction to people so that they can earn, learn, and grow. Teach, educate, guide, support, listen, smile, appreciation, compliment, and other small gestures are ways to help others.

9. Gratitude

Develop the feeling of gratitude towards, people, things, situations, nature. It will give you a new perspective and empathy towards life. We met so many people in our life, all influence our life us in so many different manners and make us what we are today. Show some gratitude to everyone we met, maybe our driver, security guard, house-help, cleaner, workers, colleagues, friends, teachers, parents who are doing so much for us. Gratitude has the power of immense satisfaction.

10. Let it go

Some situations(natural or man-made) are not under our control. So, learn to let it go. Why cribbing all the time. Have faith, everything will be fine with time. Don’s hold things, emotions, people, and situations for so long. Sometimes, it's good to let it go.

What a fantastic year, and amazing learnings. I hope to continue implementing this learning on myself. I will definitely try to learn and grow and continue to live life with a positive approach and mindset.

Live life to the fullest!!!
